Renewable diesel powers construction

Powerhouse Parramatta and the New Sydney Fish Market have become two of the first construction projects in Australia to use 100% renewable diesel in their tower cranes, enabling fossil free construction.

As the design and construction partner for Powerhouse Parramatta Lendlease is using renewable diesel to power tower cranes on site, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from crane operations by up to 90% over the life cycle of the fuel compared to fossil diesel.

The Australian-first sustainability initiative is thanks to a partnership between Lendlease, Multiplex, Marr Contracting, Refuelling Solutions and the NSW Government, and is a significant step towards decarbonising the construction.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

  • Powerhouse Parramatta will be the first public building to target a 6 Star Green Star Buildings rating
  • We recently adopted a Climate Action Plan which targets net zero operational emissions by 2025
  • Construction of Powerhouse Parramatta will be certified Climate Active Carbon Neutral.
