Demolition and reinstatement of Pier 2/3 breezeway stairs - commencing 11 May 2020

From Monday 11 May, Richard Crookes Constructions will commence demolition of the concrete stairs on the eastern side of Pier 2/3 and rebuild a new set. The news stairs will be built in line with the approved design for Pier 2/3 and will allow better accessibility around Pier 2/3 and the breezeway.

The demolition works are expected to start on Monday 11 May and take approximately two days to complete. Richard Crookes Constructions will be using an excavator with hammer attachment to break up the concrete. It will then be loaded onto trucks and removed from site. Rebuilding the new stairs will commence after demolition is complete and take around three to four weeks to complete. Whilst these works are being carried out, pedestrians will not be able to use these stairs and will need to use Hickson Road. All works will be completed in the approved construction hours.
