Hansen Yuncken announced as the stage one construction managing contractor

The new Sydney Fish Market is another step closer with Hansen Yuncken announced as the stage one construction managing contractor. 

This decision marks another milestone for the project. With Hansen Yuncken on board as the stage one contractor, work can officially begin.

Stage one works will be focused around the controlled demolition of the existing wharfs and support structures on the site, the removal of marine piles and any repairs to the existing sea wall. Hansen Yuncken will also ensure the site is prepared for a safe handover for the Main Works.

Once complete, the new Sydney Fish Market will be an iconic Sydney landmark that retains its authentic experience and its position as one of Australia’s leading tourist destinations. It will include a variety of fishmongers, restaurants, cafes, bars, and specialty food retailers in a market hall setting – and return inaccessible parts of our harbour back to the community.

Infrastructure NSW is finalising a tender process for the major construction phase, which is expected to start in early to mid-2021.
